Dr. John Peters came to Marist in 2009 as Dean of International Programs and was promoted to Vice Provost and Senior International Officer in 2023 to provide leadership and coordination to promote the comprehensive internationalization of the University. From the Great Barrier Reef to the forests of Madagascar, Dr. Peters loves playing an important part in students鈥� intercultural exploration and personal growth. Also an Associate Professor of Economics, he received a 2022-23 Fulbright U.S. International Educator Award. Prior to Marist, Dr. Peters served in a variety of capacities at the School for International Training, developing, running, and supporting experiential education programs worldwide. When not abroad, he resides in Staatsburg, NY. He and his partner Vanessa, also an international educator, have two daughters, Jamie, who graduated from Marist in 鈥�22, and Layla, class of 鈥�27.
