Summer in the City Internship Program Offers Campus Comforts in New York City

February 6, 2024 鈥 With New York City always within reach of the Poughkeepsie campus, Marist's footprint will expand even further with the introduction of the Summer in the City Internship Program. This new program opens doors to internships, enhancing students' industry experience.

Through a partnership with Fordham University, Summer in the City will make Manhattan-area internships more accessible to Marist students. They will stay in a Fordham residence hall in Lincoln Center during their internship and earn credits for an internship seminar. 

鈥淣ew York City has an abundance of opportunities for internships for all Marist students,鈥 said Jodi Hartmann, Assistant Dean, School of Communication and the Arts, and Marist鈥檚 Summer in the City coordinator. 鈥淭his program provides students with opportunities to intern full time to test drive a career that may be of interest to them in one of the best cities in the world.鈥

The program will help students prepare for a career in several ways: 

  • Twice the support: Both Marist鈥檚 and Fordham鈥檚 Center for Career Services are available to help students land an internship.
  • NYC at your fingertips: Live with other students in a full-service dorm, with 24-hour security, health services, and dining services.
  • Earn Four Elective Credits: Earn credit for a paid or unpaid internship and take a career-oriented internship seminar with students from around the world.

To qualify, students must have 60 or more completed credits by Summer '24. All majors are welcome. Interested students can . Applications are due Thursday, Feb. 15.

Information Session
Attend an info session on Wednesday, Feb. 7, from 11 a.m. to noon in Lowell Thomas 019. At this session, students will have an opportunity to hear more about the summer residential experience, learn about the internship search process, and receive support on the application process. 

Students who attend are encouraged to bring a laptop to complete the application.
